When David and his wife April had three boys, all under the age of four, David knew he needed to find something to help him stay physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. After hearing about Crossfit from some friends, David decided to try it in 2015, and he’s been hooked ever since.
Within the first year, the Crossfit methodology helped to reduce David’s resting heart rate, lowered his cholesterol, and decreased his body fat. Now Crossfit continues to help David be an active parent for his sons as the whole family learns and plays new sports together.
As a result of his experience with Crossfit, David has a strong desire to help others discover the functional fitness approach that translates into many other facets of life.

Courtney grew up playing fastpitch softball and competed collegiately at Virginia Tech as well as professionally in the NPF. Her love for the weight room and fitness training began during her time at Virginia Tech where she was named an NFCA All-American and wrote her name in several categories of the Hokies’ record books. She was devoted to becoming a bigger, faster, and stronger college-athlete and even 10 years after graduating, Courtney is more passionate than ever about the positive impact fitness can have on our lives.
She loves helping others discover their strength, determination, and confidence through fitness and health! As a new mother with a still-thriving competitive spirit, she tried CrossFit and immediately fell in love with the challenging workouts and genuine community. Now, as a coach, she loves helping athletes accomplish things they never thought possible! She firmly believes that the gym can be a place of empowerment and joy for everyone who walks in the doors!
Courtney started her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech and has gone on to accumulate 9 years of overall coaching experience in softball and CrossFit. In her time outside the gym, Courtney is a high school English teacher, wife, and mother of two beautiful children

Sarah grew up competing in both gymnastics and dance. In 2010, she discovered her love for CrossFit, and has since gained over 10 years of coaching experience. Sarah has worked with young athletes as well as adults age 75+ in both group and personal settings. After years of helping people attain physical health, she continued to notice a struggle for her clients within the hours outside of the gym. While training only addresses about 3% of their time, she challenged herself to create a program that would help clients master the other 97% as well. This passion led her to investing in more education and experience around nutrition. She is a Certified Nutrition Coaching Specialist and started her own remote Nutrition Coaching business in 2018. Her dream of owning a gym, and her purpose to help people find freedom through food and fitness are brought together under the roof of CrossFit Doors of Daring!

Tristan first started CrossFit in 2016 as a way to help with his decathlon training. At the end of his track and field career, Tristan found the sport of CrossFit to be a perfect outlet to fill his competitive void. His love for the sport developed into a passion for coaching others with this training philosophy. To him, coaching is more than helping others achieve a new Personal Record or lose weight. Coaching serves as an opportunity to boost confidence, break down barriers- mental or physical, and create a sense of belonging/community. Coach Tristan looks forward to helping everyone he works with achieve their own definition of success.
Tristan has 3 years of CrossFit coaching experience and 9 years of overall coaching experience. Prior to CrossFit Doors of Daring, Tristan was the Director of Health and Wellness for Red Ventures in Fort Mill, SC.
