Four years ago, Coach Shannon discovered CrossFit, and it completely transformed her life. Through her commitment to health and perseverance in the gym, Shannon lost 60 pounds and reached a level of fitness she never thought possible. Inspired by the profound impact CrossFit had on her own life, she became a CrossFit coach to help others achieve their own fitness goals. When she’s not coaching, she’s working as a nurse. At home, she’s an incredible wife and mother. Shannon’s passion is guiding others to do things they never imagined they could, and she is dedicated to making fitness an empowering journey for everyone.

Coach Dan began his CrossFit journey in 2016. Driven by the desire for wellness and long-term sustainability, his passion for CrossFit has grown consistently over the years as it became a vital mental, emotional, & physical outlet for him. His coaches in the past have been some of the greatest friends and encouragers to him and he desires to repay that to others in coaching. His greatest inspiration is his wife and kids. As a member of CrossFit for 8 years, he has also been particularly inspired by the community of men and women who consistently show up and move with commitment to themselves, each other, and overall wellness. Outside of the gym, Coach Dan is a full-time pastor, independent contractor for IT & financial firms, and loves all things sports!

Anna started CrossFit in 2020 in the JV program at Doors of Daring at the age of 11. She also loves to play soccer. She loves fitness and testing her limits. Anna competed in her first CrossFit competition, Fittest of the Coast, in January of 2024 and came in first place. She also made it to the CrossFit online semifinals finals this year and is sitting in 38th place in the world among 14 and 15 year old girls. CrossFit is a huge passion of Anna’s and so is working with others to help them achieve their goals. She is so excited to have the opportunity to coach the kids in the JV program at DoD. She looks forward to continuing this journey and inspiring other to achieve their best through CrossFit!

Gabby grew up doing competitive gymnastics and started when she was two years old. This passion led to her pursuing and competing in Division I collegiate gymnastics at Towson University. Following graduation, she began coaching competitive gymnastics where she found her passion for coaching. In 2019, Gabby participated in her first CrossFit class and fell in love with the sport. With competing in gymnastics all of her life, she found CrossFit to be the perfect transition socially and competitively. Along with coaching CrossFit, she also has a master’s degree in school counseling. She believes that a coach should be there to guide individuals with struggles they may be facing inside and outside of the gym to become the best version of themselves. Gabby strives to make every individual that steps into the gym feel welcome and help them believe that they can achieve anything they put their mind to.
CROSSFIT COACH
Drew is a passionate and dedicated coach who loves to help others achieve their fitness goals. He was introduced to CrossFit in 2016 by his now wife, Kayla, who is also very involved in the CrossFit community and a member of CrossFit DOD along with their son Nathan. Drew enjoys coaching because he likes to share his knowledge and experience with others, and to see them grow and improve. When he is not at the gym, Drew likes to have fun with his family playing board/card games, camping with his son or friends or racing on xbox. He also enjoys riding mountain bikes, swimming and running to challenge himself, and use his fitness outside of the gym. Drew believes that CrossFit is not only a physical challenge, but also a mental and emotional one, and he strives to create a supportive and fun environment for his athletes.

When David and his wife April had three boys, all under the age of four, David knew he needed to find something to help him stay physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy. After hearing about Crossfit from some friends, David decided to try it in 2015, and he’s been hooked ever since.
Within the first year, the Crossfit methodology helped to reduce David’s resting heart rate, lowered his cholesterol, and decreased his body fat. Now Crossfit continues to help David be an active parent for his sons as the whole family learns and plays new sports together.
As a result of his experience with Crossfit, David has a strong desire to help others discover the functional fitness approach that translates into many other facets of life.

Courtney grew up playing fastpitch softball and competed collegiately at Virginia Tech as well as professionally in the NPF. Her love for the weight room and fitness training began during her time at Virginia Tech where she was named an NFCA All-American and wrote her name in several categories of the Hokies’ record books. When she tried CrossFit, she immediately fell in love with the challenging workouts and genuine community. Now, as a coach, she loves helping athletes accomplish things they never thought possible! She firmly believes that the gym can be a place of empowerment and joy for everyone who walks in the doors!
Courtney started her coaching career at Virginia Tech and has gone on to accumulate over 10 years of overall coaching experience in softball and CrossFit. She is a wife and mother of two and her whole family loves being a part of the CrossFit Doors of Daring community!

Sarah grew up competing in both gymnastics and dance. In 2010, she discovered her love for CrossFit, and has since gained over 10 years of coaching experience. Sarah has worked with young athletes as well as adults age 75+ in both group and personal settings. After years of helping people attain physical health, she continued to notice a struggle for her clients within the hours outside of the gym. While training only addresses about 3% of their time, she challenged herself to create a program that would help clients master the other 97% as well. This passion led her to investing in more education and experience around nutrition. She is a Certified Nutrition Coaching Specialist and started her own remote Nutrition Coaching business in 2018. Her dream of owning a gym, and her purpose to help people find freedom through food and fitness are brought together under the roof of CrossFit Doors of Daring!

Tristan first started CrossFit in 2016 as a way to help with his decathlon training. At the end of his track and field career, Tristan found the sport of CrossFit to be a perfect outlet to fill his competitive void. His love for the sport developed into a passion for coaching others with this training philosophy. To him, coaching is more than helping others achieve a new Personal Record or lose weight. Coaching serves as an opportunity to boost confidence, break down barriers- mental or physical, and create a sense of belonging/community. Coach Tristan looks forward to helping everyone he works with achieve their own definition of success.
Tristan has 3 years of CrossFit coaching experience and 9 years of overall coaching experience. Prior to CrossFit Doors of Daring, Tristan was the Director of Health and Wellness for Red Ventures in Fort Mill, SC.
